France 2030: "La Grande Fabrique de l’Image"

A government strategic visionary path for cinema and media professions.
This new program has been created in collaboration with the school of cinema ENS Louis-Lumière, one the winners of the “La Grande Fabrique de l’Image” call for projects under the France 2030 plan. This initiative, operated by the Caisse des Dépôts and the CNC (National Centre for Cinema and the Moving Image), aims to position France as a global leader in filming, production of films, series and video games, post-production (special effects in particular) and training in cinema and audiovisual professions.

Ecole Nationale Supérieure Louis-Lumière

Founded in 1926 under the guidance of influential figures like Louis Lumière and Léon Gaumont, the École Nationale Supérieure Louis Lumière is one of the pioneering schools in cinema and photography. It offers a comprehensive professional education that is both theoretical and practical, technical and artistic. Operating under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, the School is a public institution that admits students with at least two years of post-secondary education through a competitive exam. It offers instruction through three Master’s programs—Cinema, Photography, and Sound—culminating in a degree equivalent to a five-year higher education level.

Institut Polytechnique de Paris

The Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris) is a world-class Institute of science and technology encompassing 6 prestigious French engineering Schools: École Polytechnique, École nationale des ponts et chaussées (ENPC), ENSTA Paris, ENSAE Paris, Télécom Paris, Télécom SudParis.

The MScT XCin is done in collaboration with Ecole Polytechnique, Telecom Paris and Telecom SudParis.

The MScT XCin is part of the SPIRAL Interdisciplinary Center (Science, People, Imagination, Research, Art, all Linked!), bringing together the arts and sciences in a unique ecosystem, based on hybrid researcher-creators, to create a catalyst for technological and societal innovations and to train our engineers to imagine futures and worlds, together with citizens.

Cluster AI: €70 million for the “Hi! PARIS Cluster 2030” project led by IP Paris and HEC Paris. A consortium led by the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, of which X is a founding member, and HEC Paris has won a €70 million call for IA Cluster projects. This collective success will have numerous spin-offs for the X laboratories involved in the Hi! PARIS Interdisciplinary Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis.

L'IDEM

L'IDEM (Institute for the Development of Communication and Digital Professions) is our partner apprenticeship training center (CFA). Located near Perpignan, this renowned institution trains students in digital creation, design, audiovisual production, and digital marketing. With its hands-on learning approach and state-of-the-art facilities, L’IDEM offers high-quality work-study programs that combine academic knowledge with professional experience. Our partnership with L’IDEM ensures that students receive the skills and support needed to succeed in today’s creative and digital industries.

La CinéFabrique

La CinéFabrique, École nationale supérieure de cinéma et de multimédia (National Film and Multimedia School), is a leading institution dedicated to training the next generation of cinema professionals. We collaborate with CinéFabrique on inter-school projects exploring generative AI, with the goal of integrating these emerging technologies into short films created by their students. This partnership encourages a dynamic exchange between artistic creativity and technological innovation, providing students with a unique experience at the intersection of film and digital media.

Les Tontons Truqueurs

Les Tontons Truqueurs (LTT) is a French visual effects and virtual production studio based near Montpellier. Founded in 2018, LTT specialises in on-set real-time VFX, virtual production with LED and green screen systems, motion capture, 3D environment creation and post-production services. Their innovative workflow allows filmmakers to visualise and capture complex visuals directly during shooting, reducing post-production time and empowering creative decisions on set. LTT works across cinema, television and commercial projects and is recognised as a pioneer in immersive production technologies.

NEOSET is a French virtual production studio specialising in LED-wall filmmaking for cinema, television, and advertising. Founded in 2020, the company brings together a team with over two decades of on-set experience to support creative and technical teams from pre-production to virtual production on set. NEOSET offers tailored workflows, project feasibility support, and cutting-edge LED studio facilities. Their flagship stage, NEO.B4, located at the historic Studios de Bry-sur-Marne, provides immersive environments with real-time integration and tracking, enabling filmmakers to visualise and capture complex scenes more efficiently and creatively.

France VFX is the French visual effects vendors association founded in 2017. It brings together French VFX studios and specialised technology and service providers to promote the excellence of French visual effects on the global stage. The association works to defend the interests of its members, enhance the international attractiveness of the French VFX industry alongside institutions like the CNC and Film France, and support tax incentives and collaborations that make France a competitive location for visual effects production. France VFX currently gathers a network of leading French VFX studios working across cinema, TV and advertising.
